- Since 1997 worked as RCT Asia Program Manager responsible for
the development of the programme in Asia. Posted in Manila since
October 1999. Main duties include co-ordination and development of
rehabilitation and prevention projects. Regular project visits to
Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand (Thai-Burmese border), India,
Nepal, Pakistan and Philippines. The tasks comprise identification
surveys, pre-appraisal missions, and formulation of project
applications, project reviews, financial management and narrative
reporting to headquarter and donor. Organisational developments
include formulation of policy and strategic position papers and
operational implementation strategies. Types of need-based support
to partners include project cycle management, human resource
management, financial management, and planning tools such as LFA
and management by objectives.
- Involved in international development issues since 1983.
Practical project management experience has been obtained from work
in Danish headquarters of RCT, and the Danish Association for
International Co-operation (MS) and abroad as RCT program manager
posted in Manila. MS regional co-ordinator (resident
representative) for a personnel assistance and partnership
programme in Nepal. For two years co-ordinator at the
DanishTechnicalUniversity and overall responsible for education and
research related to sustainable development in the South. Extensive
knowledge and skills in the area of education planning, as a tutor
and examiner.
- Apart from substantial experience related to assistance for
treatment of victims of torture and organised violence, awareness
and training in human rights and prevention of torture, the record
includes rural development and resettlement schemes; local resource
mobilisation and popular participation in infrastructure sector
including water supply and sanitation schemes; and role of state
institutions and civil society in sustainable human
development.
- Worked for extended periods in Nepal and Sri Lanka as
socio-economist engaged in developing project cycle management;
community participation; participatory monitoring and evaluation
systems.
