Group rehabilitation
The purpose of the group treatment is to enable the patients to share their problems with other peers.
Many torture survivors suffer from the same symptoms such
as poor sleep patterns, stress, depression, pain and inactivity.
Many tend to isolate themselves. They may have conflicts with their
environment and find it difficult to integrate into
society.
RCT facilitates a safe environment for
the patients to reflect on their current life situation, their
symptoms and their plans for the future together with other torture
survivors. Jointly they develop strategies to manage their daily
life and thus increase their quality of life. Varying problems such
as migration problems, pain insomnia, PTSD, anxiety and depression
are addressed during the sessions. The group discusses possible
solutions and is provided feedback and practical advice by the RCT
professionals.
