Vest El Salvador har været epicentret for tre 'borgerkrige' over
det sidste århundrede. I 1932 fandt en enorm massakre på det
oprindelige folk sted, i starten af 1980'erne blev udvalgte grupper
af oprindelige folk udsat for massakrer og forsvindinger, og i det
seneste årti har narkotikasmugling hærget denne grænseregion. Disse
former for vold placeret i et historisk perspektiv, gør det muligt
for os at undersøge hvordan subjektivitet og social identitet
bliver formet af voldelige hændelser.
