Documentation
In order to develop as a knowledge centre, RCT compiles,
generates, systematises, stores and promotes knowledge world-wide
within the field of torture and organised violence (TOV) in the RCT
Documentation Centre and Library. This enables RCT to advise Danish
and international users in questions regarding the rehabilitation
and prevention of biological, psychological and social effects of
TOV.
The term knowledge centre covers the interaction
between rehabilitation practice or prevention interventions; a
compilation or systematisation of experiences and methods; and
advocacy/information within these fields. The existing interactions
at RCT between rehabilitation prevention, advocacy, research and
international partnership co-operation provides a strong platform
to serve as a knowledge centre. In the years to come, RCT as a
knowledge centre will generate and systematise the available
knowledge on TOV as well as development of new knowledge through a
number of research and method development projects. An important,
overall principle is that research data is published in
international, peer-reviewed journals, both to signal the quality
of the research and to be able to participate in international,
scientific dialogue and networks.
The object in developing RCT as a knowledge centre is to
make RCT an institution in which many users (clinicians,
researchers, politicians, administrators, organisations and the
civil society at large) can obtain the easiest accessible,
systematised and substantiated information on TOV, including models
for rehabilitation and prevention of TOV. Within each scientific
area, a network of scientific partners is to be established to
generate and evaluate knowledge, and a database is to be made,
which will ensure the users easy access to up-dated knowledge
within specific scientific areas.
