The objective of RCT's research is to develop and disseminate
knowledge about the prevalence, causes and consequences of torture
and organized violence (TOV) and about rehabilitative and
preventive interventions targeting survivors and perpetrators.
RCT's research aims to contribute to the development of optimal
preventive and rehabilitative interventions with regard to
efficiency, effect, cost and impact.
Research covers a range of issues from the development of
concepts and understandings of TOV as phenomena to the specific
implementation of projects. Consequently RCT's research portfolio
will include both controlled trials of well-documented
interventions and sizable longitudinal, prospective, historical or
regional studies within which the effects of TOV and the impact of
interventions can be evaluated and discussed.
